Work done for the Rise of the Resistance ride for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World. Our team worked primarily on the ride’s exit scene, which focused on layers of different aging techniques to suggest a rebel spaceship hangar hundreds of years old. Within the ride itself we aged and detailed the AT-AT walkers, along with performing body work and aesthetic maintenance throughout the interior hallway scenes.
VOID is a film produced by Reed Cothron, a SCAD Alumni, in Winter 2017. This science fiction short film follows Mira as she tries to escape her critically damaged spaceship while faced with two people who both claim to be her crew member, Christian.
This metal texture was accomplished in the span of two weeks between a team of myself and two other SCAD students. The space lacked the proper ventilation for spraying oil based metallic paint and the budget didn’t allow for that much traditional metallic paint, so we approached it creatively by creating a streaked base layer with varying gray tones. We applied a minimal amount of metallic paint as a top layer to accomplish a brushed metal texture. The wall treatment then had to blend with the actual metal panels laid on the floor and pods, which we aged along with all the set decoration covering the set.
Faux bricks and scorch marks painted for the set of Le Buzz, the Emmy winning sitcom from Savannah College of Art and Design. In the episode there is a “small” fire, which burns a section of the wallpaper to reveal historic bricks.
The bricks were painted on an entirely flat wall using many, many light layers of standard latex paint. I carved a custom stamp out of a linoleum block to achieve the unique pattern on certain bricks, and went around to each individual brick applying subtle outlines and shading.
The project was completed within a week, consisting of over 50 hours of individual work.
